Book Club Books

We finished our class novel, Freak the Mighty and we have moved onto new book club books! Each group created their own reading schedule with the goal of finishing their books January 22nd. 

Each week, we will meet as a group to discuss WHOA! moments, questions that arose as they read and questions that drive discussion.

Freak the Mighty Strikes Again!

As part of our shared reading experience, we explored the art of "tableau" after reading chapter 13.  In this chapter, there were two really important events that occurred. Students were asked to recreate the event they thought was the most important in the form of "tableau".  The class was asked to guess which event/scene they recreated, then each group had to explain why they thought that event was the most important in the chapter.  Here are a few pics!

October 31st Festivities

 Though we spent most of our day learning, we took period 8 to celebrate a successful start to the year with some Minute to Win It challenges. We had a ton of fun, a ton of laughs and in the end, Team The Office were the victors.

Peer Revision Conferences

 In 6-5, we know that good writers always revise their writing. They aren't satisfied with their first effort, they strive for their best effort. Today, students had their third peer revision conference. Next week, they will be working on considering the feedback they've received and seeing how they can use it to improve their artifact paragraphs.
